Île Perrot – LaSalle, 37km
Île Perrot – LaSalle, 37km
First time riding in Québec on this trip. “La route verte” is a mix of bike path and roadside shoulder on this section. The surface is paved all the way although it can be quite bumpy at times (due to tree roots under asphalt or just uneven asphalt). Very scenic ride through West-Island along the Saint Lawrence river, passing through beautiful residential areas as well. Welcome to Québec!

Ivy Lea KOA Campground to Morrisburg, 98km
We cycled the Waterfront Trail for the most part, with the 1000 Islands Parkway trail being the nicest. Unfortunately, that path ends at Butternut Bay and the trail continues on highway 2, which sometimes has a nice shoulder and sometimes not. All in all, it was a nice ride along the Saint Lawrence river and again, the wind at our backs helped us keep a good pace (the kids took a break this time).
Finally, because we’re lacking time, we asked our family to give us a ride from Morrisburg to Île Perrot, 123km. Not a bad decision, as we avoided this crazy downpour storm that lasted the whole way.
Kingston to Ivy Lea KOA Campground, 51km
Kingston to Ivy Lea KOA Campground, 51km
10km section on 1000 islands Parkway super nice. Before that, on Waterfront Trail the road had a nice shoulder and the ride was very easy with the wind in our backs.
Adolphustown to Kingston, 47km
Adolphustown to Kingston, 47km
On the Waterfront Trail, on the very quiet road 33. This was very scenic, along wineries, farmlands and then Lake Ontario becoming eventually the St. Lawrence River. The wind was in our backs too, so what more could you ask for? Even the road into Kingston was ok (we chose to pass mainly through residential areas for the last bit to our Warmshowers’ hosts house).
Belleville to Adolphustown, 47km
Belleville to Adolphustown (UEL Campground), 47km via Waterfront Trail. This section included a short and sweet ferry ride across the lake.
Oshawa to Belleville, 8km
Oshawa to Belleville by train. Then 8km bike ride to Belleville.
Pickering to Oshawa, 50km
Pickering to Oshawa, 50km
We biked through a very pretty, residential area in Pickering and then on the Waterfront Trail along Ontario Lake for the most part of the way. Our host in Oshawa took us through some quiet residential streets for the last 5km or so.
